It is the goal of the English Language Arts Department to develop the reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills of each Sharon High School student. The ELA curriculum will introduce students to a diverse array of texts, and provide them with opportunities to learn about themselves, their community, and the wider world.

Students will work on the following skills in each of their ELA classes:

• Reading and analyzing diverse texts
• Writing for a variety of purposes and audiences
• Speaking and listening
• Solving problems
• Collaborating
• Conducting research
• Utilizing technology as a tool for learning
